At this ceremony, a collaborated choir performs, a collaborated band performs, speeches are made by individual students, a soloist sings, etc. There are seven schools in the Garden Grove Unified School District: Pacifica, Santiago, Bolsa Grande, La Quinta, Garden Grove, Los Amigos, Rancho Alamitos. Baccalaureate Soloist Audition Process: First level of auditions takes place at individual schools to select one soloist to represent their school at the Second level of auditions at the District Office. I got Pacifica Representative Soloist. The very next day at the District Office Audition, in front of all seven choir directors and seven student representatives from each school, I sang "Believer" from the soundtrack, "Be Cool." Sung by Christina Milian and composed and written by John Legend and Will.I.Am. It wasn't as nerve-racking as I'd thought it'd be; more exciting than anything because of the positive feedback from the choir and band director at Pacifica and other eavesdroppers in the choir room at school while I was rehearsing. Come to find, "The Baccalaureate Soloist for this year is Annie Tran." I was completely shocked, and I still am right now. It's surreal, without a doubt. Last year, I sang in the choir at Baccaureate 2008 and listened to the Baccalaureate Soloist sing "Listen" from the movie "Dreamgirls," and I thought to myself: "That'd be insane if that were me next year."
